our troubles will be out of sight
WHO: Wanda and you!
WHEN: Month of December
WHERE: The Inn
WHAT: Checking things out, getting a feel for her new companions, etc
WARNINGS: Will note as needed.
I.THE LAKE
[A frozen lake is a frozen lake, but this one is strange. Wanda doesn't quite step on the ice itself, but she does stay very close to the edge, eyes narrowed as she tries to discern what she thinks she saw... bump the ice from below?]
Did you see that? [She'll ask whoever is near.]
II. THE MOUTH
Are you sure that's a good idea?
[Interested in taking a sword, shield, or whatever from that pit? Well, Wanda's making a face like she certainly doesn't think it's a good idea.]
III. THE WELLS
[A morning of wandering has Wanda slowly approaching the wells. Generally, she wouldn't care to look, but she's got nothing to do and nowhere to be, so she's allowing her curiosity to win. They look very old, possibly out of use, but as she draws near the first she gives the lid a little push. Far too snug for her to move using her own muscle, which she suspected, but she didn't expect to see blood on the light dusting of snow when she stepped back.
She crouches down to get a better look. It's pretty hard to mistake blood for anything else. Still...
Come spook her while she's already feeling vaguely spooked.]
IV. THE FOREST
[Collecting herbs and berries isn't the most engaging task to help out at the inn, but it does give her an opportunity to watch the villagers. It feels colder out here, and much more dangerous. Which is why Wanda calls out to whoever she might see,]
Careful. They said there are wolves around here.
[Wolves, direwolves. Same difference.]
[ooc: Easy peasy prompts! If you want something more specific, or more actiony, feel free to PM me and I'll gladly work something out for us.]

[ Clara huffs a little. ]
I'm sorry in advance you'll have to go through something if you're here long enough. It's probably gonna suck.

Peaceful. There was always something going on, on mine.

Earth's beautiful; there are the usual people being arses over the most inane things like people do. Meanwhile, just above the planet, someone or something is always looking to conquer worlds and galaxies. If the people down there knew the real danger's not even coming from our own planet, everything else would seem...small, I think.
[ Letting out a breath, she looks at Wanda and gives a small shrug. It's incredible what traveling with the Doctor does for one's worldview. ]
But the cast majority don't know, and I think for a lot of them, ignorance is bliss.

[Even after Thanos, people were still finding asinine things to fight over. She tells herself she's not unhappy to be removed from all that, now. With a shrug, she looks over to the ice.
Blissfully quiet, now.]
Do you think whatever is under the ice is more earth-like or alien-like?
no subject
I'm gonna guess alien-like. Unless you've been to an Earth that has lake monsters.
[ She gives a small, friendly smile to Wanda before shrugging a shoulder. ]
I can't tell if the people who were staying here know anything about it or not. Then there are the ghosts that don't seem very talkative.

[Wanda is fairly certain that's not actually a thing, but she's seen weird space creatures come to Earth. So it definitely could be a thing.]
Oh, good. I thought it was just me they didn't want to talk to. [It was mildly insulting, but Wanda let it be.] Given that people are still roaming around the lake, they either know and don't consider it a danger, or they don't know and are probably going to get eaten.

I'm gonna say yes. I mean why not? It sounds like you're from Earth, too?
[ It's nice to hear something familiar, after meeting so many others who've taught her their planets. She's appreciated it, but she's a little homesick. ]
I think maybe some people just want a second of normal, even if it comes with risks.
no subject
[Like Nessie, apparently.]
As long as nothing is actively trying to kill us, I don't see the harm. Sounds like everyone could use a break.

[ Clara smiles and glances back at the woods. ]
I did hear there are wolves out there, bigger than average.
