WHO: Eda Clawthorne and YOU
WHEN: Late December
WHERE: The Inn
WHAT: Chillaxin', foraging, being an annoying little sister
WARNINGS:
1. cursed witches need time off
[ While other people may busy themselves helping out at the inn, Eda can frequently be found soaking in the hot springs with a blissed-out expression, hair wrapped in a towel that she definitely stole.
Occasionally, you might find her passed out somewhere, as the exertion of the last few weeks finally catches up with her. She will also sprout a few feathers, but not turn into the Owl Beast. Still, it might be a good idea to gently wake her and remind her to take her elixir. ]
2. Potions, potions!
[ That's not to say Eda never does anything, though. She just mainly keeps to the activities that don't bore her out of her skull. Like foraging for potion ingredients. Surely, she could make a little side hustle selling tinctures to the inn guests. You might see her wandering about and humming to herself and excitedly pouncing upon the opportunity to pick a few berries here, dig some mushrooms out from under the blanket of snow there, or cut the bark off specific trees. Just a little, not too much. Wouldn't want to hurt the ecosystem, after all.
She is prone to eventually getting so lost in her search that she strays quite a bit from the inn. At least once, she notices the time too late and doesn't make it back before curfew.
And then there's the direwolves. Eda is busying herself collecting some roots when they come at her from behind. Too late she hears their growls, making her jump and turn around with a shriek. At this point, they're close enough to use their breaths to freezer her to the ground. ]
Oh... hehehe... you've got a trick up your sleeves, huh? Mouths, whatever.
[ She's trying to talk smack, but if anyone were to watch this happen, they could see the nervousness clearly on her face.]
3. Night of the sisterhood
[ So. Maybe she stayed out a little too long, and maybe she had to make a fire with one of her glyphs to keep even remotely warm. Hey, it's fine, not like she never roughed it out in the woods of the Boiling Isles when she was young and on the run and didn't yet have The Owl House with its state-of-the-art defense system to protect her. Ah, Hooty... she dare barely think it, but she misses her house demon. His incessant chatter might at least distract her from the freezing cold with annoyance.
However, it isn't actually too long before she notices a stirring on the grounds, which are usually quiet at this time. And the stirring soon becomes a roaring, armies of ghost soldiers appearing out of seemingly nowhere. Eda jumps to her feet, extinguishes her fire and runs to hide behind a building. From there, she watches the spectacle unfold. Unfortunately, the soldiers soon come chasing each other toward her and she has to run again -- only to be met with the ghostly specter of a young woman, barely more than a girl.
The woman makes her case to Eda. Turns out she's the youngest of sisters battling for a sword. And this here girl seems to mainly want to annoy the other ones and promises Eda riches and good luck if she helps? Eda smirks. ]
Don't need to ask me twice!
[ Out of her hair, she takes a map she's made of the entire inn. Because listen, any good criminal needs to know the lay of the land. ]
How about this, hm? Now, I can put on a nice show to distract the other parties and you do your thing, how's that sound?
[ The girl is more than fine with this idea, so Eda gets herself to the center of the courtyard, where she decides throwing a few snowballs is a good way to catch the soldiers' attention. ]
Hey, you goons! So rude to have a party without me!

They are what she is using now to make sure Edna won't be frozen to the ground. The purple energy covers them in a dome of light. When Edna turns, she'll see a bundled up teen girl with glowing purple hands feeding energy into the barrier.]
I've got your back! Please tell me you've got a plan because mine pretty much begins and ends with Hulk smash! and Embiggen!

The lack of plan is less impressive, though on the other hand... it's not like Eda can point fingers here. She's the one who get herself frozen to the ground, after all.
Not that she'll let on. ]
You don't happen to have fire spells in your repertoire, do you?

[She worries her lip and asks,] Do you trust me not to accidentally smash your toes?"
no subject
You know, the fact that you ask doesn't install confidence with me, but I'm not exactly in a position to argue.

[She breaks off a tiny bit of light to especially act as a hammer. She slams it down with just enough force to actually shatter the ice. No one looks more surprised than Kamala that she pulled it off.] There! Ready to do your magic thing because it's actually getting pretty serious on my end...

[ Now free, Eda grins and gets out her glyphs. Rushing to Kamala's aid, she takes her staff out of her hair and slams it into the wolf, throwing it back a solid few meters. ]

[She doesn't stay distracted for long. Kamala takes a deep breath and rearranges the light to cover her forearms alone.] Okay! Can we scare these guys off or are we going to have to actually.... you know.
[Kill them. Kamala isn't sure she can do that.]

Then, she slams down a glyph on the ground that lets a large icycle emerge and punt a wolf into the distance. ]
Well, I say we bounce. C'mon, kiddo!
[ And Eda's already grabbing Kamala's hand and taking off. ]

[ Eda sits down behind Kamala and Owlbert takes flight. ]
Hold on tight, kiddo!

It is in the Boiling Isles!

I'm afraid not. The Boiling Isles is my home. It's where I'm trying to get back to.

I'll be fine, kid. I've been in worse pickles than this! [ Eda holds her head high and flexes her arm. Except for the fact that her hand has detached and remains stuck to the staff. ]
