Quite unfortunately. Though, I haven't generally needed to know, myself, technically. It's been useful, practical, even a good bit of fun.

[ He doesn't have the need to eat as often as humans, certainly, and his dear old girl provides when he is in need, but it's a skill he's managed to retain. With...middling competency. ]

Slugs, actually, giant ones. Seasoned with salt, garlic, olive oil, and paprika.

[ Never mind that they weren't 'cooked' the traditional way; rather, he'd set out salt at the entrance to the TARDIS and when the slugs had entered with Drakos, Sarah Jane had thrown the rest of the ingredients on the slugs to 'season' them. It had worked out, though! ]

I hope that's not what you're considering now.

( she'd be a little put off by that suggestion even if she didn't a specific reason to dislike it )

It's not any 'delicacy' I've come across and I'm not changing that now.

Una, honestly.

[ Only using her name because there's no one else around. He's careful about that, at least. ]

Look at my face. Would I make slugs for you? They're dreadful! You deserve better, you deserve—yes, I have just the thing. Wait, first, tell me how hungry you are.

Should I be concerned about this?

( because she is, una lets few people cook for her if only because she's had uncertain food experiences before and few people know anything about illyrians. she trusts him but he's not chris )

Of course not! Ten minutes from now, you'll be regretting you ever doubted me. You're not allergic to anything, are you?

[ He has a few things in mind that he can whip up quickly, but he's mindful of ingredients and certainly wants to be careful. ]

Marshmallow. ( for one thing. there's also a couple of earth-based foods that haven't been as agreeable that she gives him even if it's not an allergy. it was relieving that most foods were find when she got to earth, helping to keep her hidden )

How often do you spend on Earth?

Brilliant! I have the perfect idea, then.

[ A sandwich, with various ingredients that might seem potentially strange to anyone else. ]

Oh, we're well acquainted. Bit of a love affair, you might say, over the years. I'm fond of Earth and its people. Now—hold that thought, don't go anywhere, you're about to be amazed!

[ The Doctor is, perhaps, overly idealistic as to how his concoction will be received, but he puts together a sandwich just for Una using ingredients already made and on hand so that it's done quickly and easily; thinly sliced meat, cheese, quick pickled onions, and a few soft boiled potatoes mashed in between the bread and the meat. He presents it to her with a bright smile, holding the plate out in offering. ]

( unlike most people who would find what he's made weird or unappealing this is perhaps the least strange meal that una's ever had. honestly, trying to figure out what she liked on earth was a task in itself and she probably did a few of these things before cooking real meals. especially at the academy )

I haven't had a sandwich like this in a while. ( but she's taking it, smiling about the memory and intrigued at what it'll be like. he's put a few things together that she's never had together before ) You're not hungry?

[ Of course, the Doctor will interpret this as a sign that he's absolutely got a knack for this and should keep it up. It's so rare that he's ever actually needed to cook—lodging with Craig being the exception not long ago—he'd forgotten there's a bit of a thrill in it. ]

Not at the moment. I had chocolate cake for breakfast, naturally! Should always start the day with loads of sugar, I say.

[ It may be a wonder to some that his body perseveres as it does. Blessed Time Lord physiology. ]

( she shakes her head slightly but una knows that if there weren't frequent breakfasts at the captain's quarters she'd eat a less good breakfast herself. too busy to settle, mornings are for getting things done )

Then I might have to see what else you can do another day. Or another meal, get you to sit.

[ Sitting. Yes, he's definitely familiar with the concept and he can sit for short bursts of time. Longer, if the company is good, as it always is with Una. But even then, he'd likely have to get up and fidget about a little before sitting again. ]

I've got loads of ideas up here, of course. [ He taps the side of his head. ] We'll have a proper meal again soon, and yes, I will sit. For a little while.
