my mind feels like a foreign land | for wrath
Especially not with someone as powerful as Wrath.
She stops by his apartment when they’re all in the process of packing, when she knows that her brother is off elsewhere dealing with something else. She knocks lightly against the doorframe, hoping she looks a bit more put together than she had when she arrived, and that her initial rage has subsided some.
She can’t hide the outward appearance, however. The bruises and bloody lip, the injured arm, the torn knuckles. He has every right to be worried about her, but she’s determined to also not make her home problems his problem.]
Do you have a minute?
/the latest
Wrath has little he wishes to bring with him though he is certain to carefully pack his gift for assisting with the city, to place fine clothing he appreciates into a bag, to have his dagger at his side. He can only hope the next accommodations they have will allow for the same level of privacy and ownership in the space, but given where they were previously, he does not have high hopes. It's another reason to pack lightly, but in the process of packing and unpacking, he must undo the wards he created, including the one that protects the tongue from being accessed at all.
This is the task he is in the middle of completing when Allison appears, shadow and gold surround him like whisps of snakes while he whispers the words to break the wards.
He does not turn though he hears her before she has knocked, can feel the shift in anger inside of her even though it is quieter at the moment. The devil knows anger in an intrinsic way (better than most mortals know an old friend, a family member). It calls to him, and he calls to it.
And then Wrath turns to face her, cataloguing her injuries next as if she has gone to battle but none have been waged since last they saw one another. He remembers their conversation before about anger, about what she faced in her own world. )
You went through the beacon.

[She has regrets. Part of her wishes that she never went, so she could stay in that blissful space where she still has hope that she'll see her daughter again, but it's too late to take it back now.
But those feelings are not what she's here for, so she tries to swallow them down.]
Which is why I'm here. My powers got an ... upgrade, I guess. I didn't want you to find out from someone else, and I thought you might want to test it again.
no subject
I do. ( It's confirmation, quiet, contemplative. He remembers feeling her ability before when they tested it, and he was impressed by it at the time. It works differently than what Princes of Hell can do, pushing at one's mind instead of utilizing a sin to control them. )
...in what way has it changed?
no subject
[She's referring to the "I heard a rumor..." part. She hasn't really grappled with how that's so much a piece of her identity quite yet, but she will eventually, when she has a minute to think about it.
Can you "rumor" someone if you haven't "heard a rumor"?]
It also feels different when I do it, but I'm not actually sure if it's any stronger. I haven't tried to use it on anyone it hasn't worked on before.
no subject
( But he understands the need to test it out. It appears her power has worked on everyone else she has ever tried it on before him.
He wonders what it will feel like this time. Certainly, he imagines he will feel the strength of it, the shift within it. His own abilities to control one's will is so tied to sin - not the mind itself, not specific words wielded. Wrath takes a moment and then prepares himself mentally before he speaks: )
Command me to sit.
no subject
Sit down.
[And she waits, to see what happens.]
no subject
And he pushes beyond it to remain standing.
Even still, there's something else within his being - the curse, running, pulling away from it as if it is- as if it is frightened, as if it does not know- His grip on the chair in front of him tightens as the curse reverberates inside of him, and his eyes close.
And Allison will see in turn: Sursea on his throne, waiting with a dagger in hand, for him. Ready with her curse, ready with consequences for an action his brother so recklessly took. )

Her hand comes up on instinct, to protect herself, but a second later she realizes that there's no one there. What she's seeing wasn't real - at least not at present, in the moment in front of her. Her eyes float back to Wrath and she has to ask:]
What the fuck was that?
no subject
She saw? That should not be possible except from what he knows of the Hargreeve's powers, how they received them, why wouldn't it be? The First Witch could not have possibly prepared to protect against it. Can her power now somehow break past the curse that has enshrouded him and Emilia? )
...the curse.
You felt something?
no subject
[Felt might not be the right word, but she definitely had a vision of some kind. That experience, at least, she can speak to. She has no context for the image itself, though if it's related to the curse, she can assume it's important.]
A woman on a throne with a dagger. Is she ... ?
[The one who cast the curse? The one who put him and Emilia in this situation?]
no subject
( It's as much confirmation as he is able to give, and Wrath must choose his next words carefully. His fingers gripping to the chair further. )
...Emilia does not know all of this. I am- ( He breathes out and in and out again ) not able to explain.
But you- Your power has grown in strength. I felt it, and it- the curse pulled from it, from your influence.
no subject
[Her head tips to the side because that is interesting. She knows her power can be useful, but not normally on this kind of level.]
I assume it can't be as simple as saying "You are no longer cursed."
[That would be too easy, but at least there might be a way she could help her friends.]
no subject
( Granted, it is unlikely anything within his own world would be effective against it beyond whatever it takes to break the curse completely. )
I have theorized the curse could, at least in part, be filtered into one of the dark mirrors that exist in this world, but I was uncertain of how to move it.
( It is possible she could command it to go into the mirror instead, and there would likely be consequences regardless as there always is when breaking a curse. )
no subject
[Yeah, she can make that work. She's sure it won't be as simple as that, but she's willing to help any way she can. Emilia and Wrath are her friends, and if she can make things better for them, she'll do it.]
Just let me know when and where.
