and try one, and try two, i guess it always comes down to

WHO: Alina and Diego
WHEN: Around the 12th
WHERE: Palace of the Doxe
WHAT: A dinner that goes terribly wrong. Plot roll stuff.
WARNINGS: Violence? If anything more specific comes up, I'll adjust it.

Diego has had a hard time keeping up the act of the suitor; subterfuge has never been his strong suit. But with Allison's life and safety in the line? He's going to do his damnedest to keep her safe. Even if it means keeping up this stupid charade much longer than he would have liked to.

Which is what led him to this dinner. The food smelled good enough, all things considered, but when all five Graces (his wolf companions who go with him pretty much everywhere) growl....well that's not a good sign. He catches Alina's eye -- she doesn't seem to be happier to be here than he is. She's not one of the natives, that much he's fairly certain of which is why he subtly nudges his head towards the plates of food and shakes his head, as if trying to communicate that she shouldn't eat it.

But they'll probably need to make it seem like they did.

Whoever gave her the title of "tastemaker" really wanted to see Alina suffer in the most public of ways. Alina has never enjoyed these kinds of dinners, they remind her too much of being paraded through Ravka. At least here she's not the one on full display.

Still, she does her best to try to entertain the suitors surrounding her. It's awkward at best, and she has to try her hardest not to fall silent too often. She glances over to Diego, Five's brother if she remembers correctly, and can practically feel the strain radiating off him.

However, when she looks she catches that nudge towards the food. The food she has her fork in just about to take a bite of...

She gives a small nod of gratitude and does her best to raise the food, then set it down and push it around. Hopefully that distracts enough, right?

"It's getting a little late," Alina attempts. "Do you think dinner will be wrapping up soon." Then of course remembering herself as the social butterfly that she is, she smiles and fans herself. "I think some of this wine has really gotten to me already." That's a good excuse, right?
