For now, he kept feeding power into his whip which glowed faintly as willow roots covered in a similar glow continued to come out of the ground, replacing the ones that broke.
He could feel as well, the spiritual energy of Jiuge which was on the hands of Lan Sizhui. If he had it, he could have borrowed its powers to strengthen the willow roots, but he will have to make do.
"I can hold her for a while yet." He will pour all the energy he has into this. He doesn't hope for success: hoping wasn't helpful. He will have to do what he can, eke out every last bit of willpower and just force his body to continue if he had to. And, having thought that, like the pot warning the kettle he said, "Know your limits. If you need a break, take it."
One of the roots snapped unexpectedly and before he could get it wrapped up again the dragon whipped her tail towards them. He throws out a hand and manages to throw up a golden coloured barrier. He grimaces and doesn't apologize (because what was the use of that? Better to just focus on making up for his mistake).

It feels rote and useless, moving through the motions of casting the same spell over again, but it looks like the dragon's body begins to slow, thrashing less often and less violently. Whether its resignation or a growing calm he can't tell, but it's all he can do to keep trying because if it doesn't work, then-
He doesn't want to think about it.

He doesn't summon as many vines but he keeps the one already there. That was, until he saw the dragon's eyelids blink--once, then again before falling shut without reopening.
He holds out a little longer before allowing the barrier in front of them to fall. The vines, he allows to remain for now.
He watches the sleeping creature warily for a moment before looking at his companion with a sidelong glance.]
How are you feeling?
[On his end, Chu Wanning looks unfazed but then, the man could be bleeding out and he would still continue to stand out of sheer stubbornness.]

"Tired," he says simply, heavily. But the task is done- or at least, his part in it is. He isn't going to manage long enough to coordinate the rest. "Lily said she'd.. reduce it. Xie Lan to escort.. Zuko."

He reaches a hand out for Eleven's shoulder but hesitates halfway. "...you shouldn't rest here." In this place, is what he means. After all, it's outside and the weather isn't exactly warm. Then, finally, he let himself take this person by the arm. "Go home." He sounds stern and commanding but when he tries to help the other up he is gentle.

"Too late for that," he breathes, but concentrates on getting his feet beneath him so as not to waste his efforts. "Overused magic. But we did it."

He keeps an eye on the dragon until it starts to shrink then disappears. Only then does he allow himself to focus his full attention on Eleven.
"Is there anything that can help with that? Besides rest, I assume..."
