Five had been mulling over Lily's question and Allison's answer when Wei Wuxian gets closer. He thought, maybe, that it was common for spirits to evoke emotions, and he was hoping to have that theory supported. Only for it to be shot down by his sister.

But he hasn't picked up anything else since they first entered. He also hasn't stopped feeling what he did then. Burning. Devastation and betrayal, layered on the stockpile of suffering he's been hoarding. He's still halfway convinced it's all in his mind; that it's only stress and old trauma getting to him. Things that he doesn't need to pay attention to.

So he's confused when someone else notices. His brow furrows as he looks back at Wei Wuxian, oddly unsure of himself and what he's being called out on.

"I don't—" he cuts himself off before he can say he doesn't know what he means, assuming it stems from his earlier question about how they died. He gives a quick glance to the others, not wanting this to become the subject of attention if they overhear, and shakes his head. "I was wrong about what happened to them. Whatever I felt was just a guess."
