The soil coming off of Nynaeve leaves a trail behind them, and Ben would be more worried about it if he could see anyone following them. They might be able to get it washed off and prevent that.

"I didn't take names," he admits. "And yeah. There was a bell ringing. It's how I found you." Ben looks around them.

"Maybe we can find a pond, or a fountain." Pond is more likely here.

"I'm hoping." Logically speaking, Nynaeve must be right. But he has to ask, "What were you doing before you ended up in there, anyway? You remember anyone grabbing you?"
