The outrage he'd felt the first time Regulus had mentioned seeing Haltham resurfaces when he gives his account. It twists at an old paranoia inside him that something isn't right. Maybe he wasn't working together with Karsa at all, although he has other issues with her. Either way, they've put too much faith in their survival with the two of them.

He looks at Regulus, who doesn't know enough to understand his anger, and flexes his jaw until he can work it up to a tight smile. The man has done everything he asked without complaint. There's nothing more he wants out of him.
