This is fantastic.

Apologies for the delayed reply. I was doing a lot of wavering about my memory choice, only to ultimately stick with my first instinct. Sorry!

The memory is that of a child with straight hair a few shades darker than River's (she literally had a whole different body back then!). She's woken from a nightmare about The Furies. There's something cold about the room, not the room of a child, sparsely furnished with an assortment of weapons lying about in place of toys. A woman with curly red hair and an eye drive enters. The child initially draws away, but the woman puts her arms around her and strokes her hair, "There, there, little Melody. Hush now. You know there's nothing to be afraid of here."

Though there's nothing especially warm or comforting in either the gesture or the way she speaks, the child calms in her arms.
