Pursuers of magical artefacts, Master Hawk and the Dawn's Reach Trade Company arrived in Ephes after hearing word of a mysterious item found in the midst of gushing black water and earthquake rifts, when the Colosseum was recently rattled days prior. Alas, Master Hawk has searched and searched, finding nothing because Wen Kexing got there first.
He suspected that the item was one of a number that they have chased down across land and sea, which seem to summon fresh black water, to reinforce the flow of existing dark water, or to cut through dimensions and bring forth strange creatures and even foreigners from other worlds! They're still studying these items and sadly don't know that much about them, other than they're usually, disgustingly, body parts or organs — they lost one that was in the shape of a severed tongue once in the middle of the seas to a rascal captain and his new allies, it was very sad :( What a price it would have fetched!
