EPHES CLUES

No, no, any time before the end of next week would be great!

Right you are. Here are... Wen Kexing's winnings. They are broken down, for your ease, in Ephes clues in this comment and Living with the hand in the next comment. You can share whatever you want about the hand with the group, but please make sure to share the bolded points below.

EPHES CLUES
— the hand is recovered from the middle of the gladiator arena, from one of the 'earthquake'-like rifts that are gushing deathly-cold black water

— visibly, the hand is powering the gushing of some of these black water flows somehow; more corpses are reanimated around it than anywhere else; the overall suggestion is that this hand is a source of power

critically, the rivulets of dark water begin to immediately dry up, once you start lifting the hand; the black water and undead don't all dissipate when the hand is taken away, but the hand's removal has a significant impact all the same

— the hand does not in any way 'fight' or oppose being picked up, but, if your character is magically sensitive, he or others he shows it to might feel it as wrathful, malignant and disturbing

— the hand looks clean and well kept, other than the inevitably black water that douses it, suggesting it has been carefully deposited where it was found and not... severed on site, or suddenly burst through from the grounds

also of sharing-is-caring importance, the hand has clutched a piece of torn cloth in its hand; unfolded, it appears to have been torn off of a purple mantle. The only ones allowed to wear that colour are Caius Justus and the head of military operations — in this case, Hand leader Narula, who was seen on the premises of the gladiator arena on the catastrophic day during the games
