Yet he's respected in the city, and his gang controls a large area. He reminds Jacob of some of the leaders of the Blighters. Tough, but not impossible to crack.
Now, if it were Jacob alone, or back in London, he'd approach this with a bit of banter, a bit of swagger. He doesn't think that is how Wen is going to do it, and, as Wen is the one recommending him here because he's too handsy for the brothels, he should probably let the other man speak first. So he keeps mum, and keeps half a step behind Wen, like he's following the other man's lead. Because, he supposes, he is.
