Right you are! The barracks are fairly sturdy, worn-in buildings with good foundations. They are very clearly repurposed residential homes, with a lot of the architecture repurposed and with windows shuttered in by wooden planks and doors reinforced. In other words, your best bets are to come in from the rooftops, since these buildings weren't designed to fend against that — or to ask help from anyone assigned to the Hand, who could let you in from the inside!
The barracks are generally well guarded, with patrolmen supernaturally fast and strong, but exhibiting no unusual abilities otherwise. Your real challenge will be getting in and avoiding the night watch, so that patrolmen don't sound the alarm.
The eleven members of the Golden Silence are found in a ground floor hall room. There used to be more members, you hear from their leader Aquilus Tertius, but lives were lost when some of the troupe tried to escape. The troupe initially agreed to a six-month contract — which has since extended into virtual enslavement — to teach the nascent Hand battalions the art of copying mannerisms and even gestures, to help them with espionage and camouflage. It all seemed creative, but certainly not horrific.
They were locked up nearly the moment they arrived, and, yes, they have been teaching members of the Hand how to mime, since: mostly, how to improve their learning and copy martial techniques and how to behave more... mannered. All of the members of the Hand that the Golden Silence have met have a rare aptitude for imitation, but also seem... unhinged, seldom in control of themselves, more animal than human.
It's been horrible, since the Golden Troupe came here. Just the worst.
You are welcome to fight your way out or to try to sneak the troupe out. You can also just get your answer and abandon the Golden Silence where you found them — though some might question the ethics of that behaviour.
Please complete your thread playing out something to do with your discovery and one (or both!) of the players can share the news with the class via network post by Oct. 25, thank you!
