2. Procula Avita is a rare 'stick in the mud.' She thinks unfavourably of Messalina because she's broadly opposed to Ephes' ambitions of war and imperial conquest. After all, futile bloodshed is how more widows, orphans and veterans come to be. She nevertheless is pragmatic enough to understand Ephes is on a hunt for glory, and war of some kind is inevitable. She supposes, since Ephes has recently put so much money into building an army, the Senate will vote to use it.
