When he appears in the woods he can immediately tell that something is off. Back in Taravast, he has a vague memory of the Huntress wandering the streets and what she left in her wake. It wasn't quite the same the second time when they gave her shelter, but this village has been more hostile towards her, so she might be more inclined to retaliate.
And where is Hermione? He gives it a minute or two for her to appear before he starts wandering by himself.

He's nearing a larger section of dead forest when he hears his name and turns his head to see a familiar figure barely hidden behind a tree. He teleports one more time to appear next to her, then gives her a once over before adopting a disapproving stare. She could have met him at the entrance.
