[ The black gunk, while seemingly not an immediate concern, can't be good by any means. The man has managed to stumble away, at least, and the Doctor keeps an eye on him out of his periphery, but his attention is fully on Caitlyn now, who's the target of the corpse yet to be dealt with. He's tempted to call out to distract it, but that will only attract more of them.
Worried that the undead creature will smear more of the black stuff on Caitlyn — and exceedingly worried about what the black stuff actually is, given everything they'd experienced in Serthica — the Doctor makes a quick, impulsive decision to use the full force of his body and launch himself at the corpse. Limbs flailing as he tackles it with gusto, the dive into the corpse isn't very coordinated or precise, and he can only hope that he hasn't made things worse for Caitlyn, and that he's stopped the black stuff from getting on her in any way at all. ]
