The Doctor is on a similar page as Aloy when it comes to feeling uncomfortable around those that are visibly, genuinely grieving. Or rather, this particular incarnation of himself is. In past scenarios, he's simply looked past it. Bit hard to do that when there's so much of it happening around you though.
