How the hell do you kill something that isn't there?

he remembers a time when he'd been more than willing to kill steve, not knowing who he was, only knowing compliance.
but he's past that. he knows this isn't steve but it still has steve's face.

I can do it. But, if it's not really him, you got any ideas on how to take it out?
