They're in one of the worst places imaginable, running directly into the fire that will engulf the world, and yet when he sees Wrath appear he nearly breathes a sigh of relief. Out of ideas, he came down here to find Wrath, and Emilia, to find hope of sealing Hell before the end. No one else has his trust or the knowledge of what they're up against as much as them.

And if Wrath thinks they need to get through the gates, that's what he'll do. He doesn't have much of a concept of what they'll find. If it's able to block his powers, his escape route out of here might get more complicated, but that's not what he's focused on right now. He can see something in the flames. Forms coming together and shifting.

"So what? They open if you pass the test?" When he turns to Wrath he notices his attention shift to a noise and tries to follow his gaze. He expected them to be swarmed with demons when he went in, and he's still anticipating the avalanche to start any minute now. It was too easy getting to them.

"They usually play these kind of games down here, or is that just our luck?"
