cosplayqueen: (so what can I do?)

I'm sorry. [To her credit, she is very sorry. She'd be spared the worst, but there was a five-year period where no one ever assumed relatives or friends were among the living. The teen is briefly mad at herself for being so insensitive. She ought to know better. The guy doesn't seem angry with her so after a while she lets it go. They enter a mostly comfortable silence where Kamala mostly daydreams about home and what it would be like if Captain Marvel were here.

When the silence is broken, the teen actually looks startled. She jumps into the conversation as if no time has passed at all. They may as well be old friends on a stroll for how sincerely she considers his words.]
Oh... wow. I actually don't know anything about that.

[She resists the urge to check the network for more information.] But, you're right. There's this thing my Imman told me that stuck with me. Good is not a thing you are, it's a thing you do.

[Kamala explains with a rare amount of seriousness.] We all tell ourselves we're good and awesome people. It's our actions that really speak for us. I once knew a woman who wanted more than anything to go home. That's okay, right? No one would ever say that's a bad thing to want. The way she went about it was to kill and terrorize whoever didn't go along with her plan to get there. Her plan involved killing an insane amount of people.

[She exhales audibly to let go of that lingering grief for a woman who would have killed a whole world to get what she wanted and the ones who were brave enough to tell her no even at the cost of their lives.] So yeah. That's kind of how I think of that. What do you mean by first natives? [She hasn't forgotten about that even if as usual she jumps around.]
