It's just within the doorway that the Doctor's ducked back into that Vanessa rushes behind him, the chaos just outside distracting him enough to give her a flash of opportunity. There's no time for her to even consider something like a spell to try and subdue him—and she had promised herself she would never do that to him again. Physical violence is somehow more permissible in her mind, so she runs into him with such a force to slam him face-first into the corner just inside the doorway. She can hope it's enough force to weaken his grip and allow her to wrench the bow from him, even flinging it out to the still frozen pathway if needed.
