That'll depend on the nuance of Rathakku's objective for him - if it's specifically to blast the gate (as opposed to attacking the merchants at the gate) he'll attack from a distance, though he's likely to fess up to Deimar or somebody else in authority about it after the fact to try and help... protect everyone... from himself whoops
