i. [ River's taken part in battles before, though it's usually something she tries to avoid. She isn't bothered at all to be consigned to the dark and quiet underneath the fortress. In a way, it is almost comforting, with the stifling nature of a prison, cut through with tunnels and mine shafts, and there's ample opportunity to explore.
Somehow, finally dying hasn't made her any more careful. Her time here is borrowed anyway. Will it even matter if she survives this place? So she wanders, deeper and deeper, searching for new routes out. ]
ii. [ She likes the lakes best. It's frigid, almost painfully so, but the cold has never bothered her as much as it does others, well, other humans. The caves are gorgeous, if somewhat hazardous, the ice and cold lending an air of solitude. She resists temptation her first few visits, practically a record for her. But eventually, she reaches into the water to scoop up one of the gleaming scales that floats on its surface, only to have her fingers brush against a rather unfriendly looking mouth full of rather large teeth. Or more accurately, narrowly missed getting her hand bit as it came out of the water.
Carefully backing away from the water's edge, she stashes the scale in one of her many pockets to have a closer look at later. ]
Nice sea monster. Or...whatever you are.
The Clawing (Feb. 8-10) »»
[ She ignores it at first, the pull, but it only gets stronger, calling her outside the fortress walls. Even after her resistance has broken, she feigns her loyalties. Keep your enemies close. She's always been good at lying, at playing a role. But always there's the pull. By the third day, she's joined the attack on the towers. There's a battle to be fought, and she knows which side she's on. ]
