hermione granger (harry potter) open to all shenanigans (and violence)

1. Eastern Tower: holler back girl
[ooc: Open to some Eastern Tower harpy fighting action for tower buddies, but loud enough to be heard by others as well if anyone wants to send a message. ]

It takes a few surprise attacks from the harpies for her to notice, while bombs detonate and the creatures recoil, that noise bothers them immensely. This time, she's got her wand out to to her throat, the spell to amplify her voice already cast, and she hollers intentionally.

Third Year Hermione would be proud of her for remembering how to still produce a wolf's cry; it's followed by a yell, and a very booming "LEAVE!"

Three harpies recoil, flying away before circling back; two of the braver ones spot the wizard and fly straight at her. The wand still at her throat means this part is projected loudly, too: "OH SHIT."

1.2. Eastern Tower: play fetch
[ooc; Technically open to whoever can catch her, but she can apparate herself mid-fall if necessary, if someone would rather just shoot at the harpy instead. If there's more than one thread in this prompt, I'm going to assume it's happened a few times, because Hermione...]

This is not a time for her to fear heights, but there's incentive there. She's been fighting the latest onslaught from the harpies, flinging more powerful hexes at them, wishing she'd learnt that Sectusempra spell from Harry after all, but it hasn't been enough.

Bet you wonder what that sound is. Well, it's the sound of wings flapping, as one creature has grabbed hold of the Eastern Tower witch and is carrying her off.

In a panic, she squirms to break out of the claws that hold her tight, a scream trapped in her throat, and at the last minute remembers she is a witch. She aims her wand poorly and sends a stinging hex at the harpy.

Good news: it works! The harpy recoils and drops Hermione.

Bad news: she is now in free fall.

2. The Wards: think of the children
[ooc: I enjoy pain, and Hermione has plenty of stories of personal tragic sorrow, so drop a request here if you want your character to overhear one.]

Death is no stranger to her, it hasn't been for a long time. She has heard the wailers come in, and their cries sink claws into her heart, fitting like a noose around her throat.

This time when it happens, there may be a child sitting next to her, watching with pained eyes as a family member is lost to sickness. For a moment, Hermione sits next to them helplessly, wanting to offer comfort but not knowing where to begin.

She remembers what the others do. She could try. She should be resting, by all means, but she wants to try.

"Would you find any comfort in a story of my own loss?"

The child nods, and Hermione nods back. She steels herself, and begins.

3. The Keep: downtime edition

It's late - or maybe it is early - and she has the look of someone who needs to sleep. Her station up on the Eastern Tower has been momentarily relieved, and she has been sent down to recover from the latest harpy attack.

She can't remember the last time she ate, and she doesn't think she could handle making tea right now, even if she still has some leaves in a bag in her bag. Hermione bumps into someone in the hallway, murmuring a brief apology behind her - you see, she's spotted an empty pallet, and she's going to take it.

"I'll just...yeah..." she mumbles as she sits down, then curls up in a ball and draws the hood of her pretty new cloak over her head. "I just need an hour. It's fine - wake me if they ring the alarm bells?"

If she has anyone sitting nearby or not is anyone's guess, she's on autopilot right now.

[ooc: Wilcard starters are welcomed! I ended up writing a lot of sad girl starters, but please feel free to drag her into something else. ]
