[ A gasp when she's suddenly freed from the foggy water, dripping from unkempt hair to soaked leather boots. It takes her a moment to re-orient as the Doctor hauls her back onto something almost resembling solid ground, though that's a generous term. Her hands twist into his jacket like claws at first, her breaths coming in only slightly pained rattles. The cut on her leg from fallen rubble isn't even felt, not really. Just the pounding of her heart registers. Then their voices, but it seems louder than even their voices, and she just keeps hearing names. Hers. Red's.
Red. Her head snaps around at the girl's voice.
Finally gasping for air, assured that she isn't about to drink some kind of deathly poison that the ghastly beast had tried inviting her to, Vanessa weakens her grip and gently pushes at the Doctor's chest. She can walk. She is well enough. If anything, she's embarrassed, but that is overcome by relief at seeing the both of them in one piece.
Seeing the minotaur just as it flees, Vanessa's eyes narrow. That earlier twisting in her stomach feels lighter now, like moths have unraveled the tangle. Silent if not for the thrumming of their wings. Futile, though. No light for anyone here.
There's pride for the damage done by Red's own hand, but disappointment that it does not lay dead. A bit of a wheeze while still catching her breath. It seems she never will. ]
I am─ I am well. We endure. But now it will alert its brother.
