( He huffs out, not shaking his head so much as shoving his chin over her shoulder. Here, big wolf, do all the hugs as wanted. He's leaving his throat exposed this way, take it as the show of trust he knows it is.

So few people really understand wolf body language. He can only wish it were otherwise, but leaves her to stroke through his ruff, and further: over his shoulders she'd feel the scar tissue that runs diagonal across them and further down his back. Less extravagant in wolf form than the matching scars on his human body, but equally badly healed, and old.

That child was wrong, a wrongness. This sickness here is not natural. While the words weren't all false, illness does not need a specific deliverer, it can arrive on its own, it was error filled to assume that was the case here. That the child calls it so felt like denial, lashing out, saying it was someone else's fault for the breaking of a toy.

That's what's even worse, to him. That this whole citadel, with its unseen dead and the rest, are played to the hands of a child. A child who was, according to others, once already dead as a man, then dead again as a lord of death.
