Jim's just very good at making things sound simpler than they actually are. Makes it easier to deal with, at least in his personal perspective, though he never loses sight of all the ramifications related to any choice he makes. He knows all too well that in this instance, any good outcome is highly unlikely.

But it's not impossible. He once said he doesn't believe in no-win scenarios, and that remains true even now.

"Neither do I, but we're stuck here now, so we might as well see it through. And yes, try to get as much information as we can," he agrees. "Right now, I'm mainly hoping for that, and for a way back that won't end with us sinking to the bottom of the ocean."
