"Even if it's just to find a way to get out of here, we can't take that deal on our own," he shakes his head, hand resting over his mouth as he ponders. Who knows what kind of deal it would be— it could even be something magical, something Jim couldn't get out of later, and it could get them into some serious trouble.
"Honesty might be the best option, here. Let him know we're... refugees, of some sort, and explain there are more of us back on those ships. That he'd need to let us talk amongst ourselves and decide whether or not to take the deal."
There's a pause. "Which we do need to do. While I personally wouldn't take that deal, or at least wouldn't be alright with the handing over Vane part of it, I can't make that decision for the rest of us. It's something the whole group needs to know about."
