[ Spock has many questions to wonder about. Assuming this Ambassador is his future, Spock has a lot of life left to explore. There is a sense of anticipation to it, knowing big things will come but not entirely what they are. It's an utterly human surge of excitement that has no basis in logic and yet Spock doesn't want to fully ignore it.
It's not only his own future, but this man. Or another version of him. Spock doesn't have many relationships in his life that feel remarkable. He gets along with the crew of the enterprise. He loves his mother. He may even have a few people he considers a friend as much as he ever has, but a remarkable relationship? Spock cannot help feeling utterly fascinated by all that that can entail. ]
