Five frowns, mulling that first statement over. The merchant knew not only what was taken, but who he gave it to? How is he keeping such close tabs on them? It bothers him more that he didn't take better advantage the one time they spoke. His fault for freezing up before he got more of an answer to what he knows... about him. About his family.
His attention shifts back as soon as she speaks again. The questions she asks makes him lift his eyebrows, not expecting her to be curious about why he wants to know, of all things. Why wouldn't he?
"Because no sane person would be able to take this much in stride. Unless you're really desensitized to living corpses back in your time." That doesn't entirely explain his interest though. He gives her a long stare, scrutinizing her further. -- Might as well get it out on the table. For the sake of honesty.
