Marcos really agrees with that first sentiment. But these are people who force anyone who enters their village to atone for the sins of their ancestors, so he didn't expect much sense to begin with. That's one reason he stepped in, and it just makes him more eager to get out of here before they find them.

He glances over at him briefly as he speaks, but he's still got most of his focus on the entrance while he debates what their best move is. They could try to slip out now, or wait and see if they'll get lucky and they'll pass on by.

"Smoke, huh?" He's curious what that power entails, but he's not at all surprised that he has it.
