the more, the merrier

[ When Hinami wakes, forward is the only way she can think to go. Her flower-patterned dress is dirty and torn, there are leaves in her hair, and she doesn't remember anything from the last...How long? Enough that she can feel that it's been a while, at least.

With nothing else to do, and no one responding to her calls, Hinami walks.

a. On a normal day, Hinami might have been able to avoid the bandits. But with her strength depleted and who knows how long it's been since she last ate, she's wandered straight into the camp before she really registers the voice she's hearing from afar aren't all friendly. Maskless and too weak to summon a kagune without giving herself away as a Ghoul and get away safely, it's easier to just listen when she's forced into the group than end up with shackles and chains. At least, it's what she thinks Touka and Kaneki would want her to do if it mean staying alive until they could find her. And they will, she knows. She just has to stay alive and stay strong until they do, no matter if she's scared.

There's little incentive to let a young teenager attempt to help with hunting, so Hinami is instead left to try and assist around the camp itself. She focuses on attempting to help the wounded, though lack of experience means that she's starting with anyone with minor ailments first. Cut yourself up a little foraging? Kicked around by an animal while hunting? She's waiting with whatever she's been able to grab in the way of bandages, possibly repurposed. She's quiet and shy as she does it, but gentle and kind, trying her best. She avoids anywhere food is being prepared, taking any time she can sneak away to sit as far away in the woods as the bandits will let her, trying to listen for the footsteps of anyone she knows under the guise of finding herbs or entertaining herself by making little crafts with all the forest debris around them.

b. When night falls and they get locked in the tent, Hinami is a little more on edge. She's not at the point of starving yet, thankfully, but-- For a ghoul slowly growing hungry, being surrounded by humans made things...difficult. And being surrounded and locked in together with so many strangers, there's no way to really hide the fact that she never seems to eat what the captives are given. She tries to keeps to herself in the corner, knees drawn to her chest and doing whatever she can to amuse herself until she tires-- Making crowns with anything she's grabbed from the forest seems to be the most common. But she's easily drawn into simple conversations, sometimes even seeming to move to sit near people so she can listen to mundane ones without really sharing herself.

And then, when the night truly draws in and everyone is asleep, she thinks of her Anteiku family and just cries as quietly as she can through the loneliness. ]
