The good news about being blind? One couldn't be fooled by illusions. The not-so-good news about being blind? It made trying to avoid capture rather difficult, especially without a shrivel of magic to her name. For all that Y'shtola resembled a cat in nature, she seemed oddly calm as the bandits rummaged through the belongings of everyone but her, as they'd long ago plucked the staff from her hands (until she guilted them into returning it, lest they be burdened with carrying around a blind woman for days). Being unable to see didn't stop her from being able to hear, however, and she sat listening to the people around her, keeping an eye on the ridiculousness happening around her.
A bandit yelped. And then there was a man's voice chatting about something cursed, something involving spirits. Her ears pricked up at the sound, listening intently now, even if her gaze didn't swivel in his direction just yet.
What an interesting thing. A book...and a man who wasn't human. He must pass for one, she supposed, or no one would have noticed until he pointed it out. How odd. She heard him settle close by and then, at last, she chanced to glance in his direction. Y'shtola could pass for being able to see at the best of times, and her brows perked up enough to at least give the impression he had her attention. "What's this about a curse? Where did you get such a strange item?"
