1. PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF DESPERATION (and bad acting)
[She is going to learn later that this wasn't necessary, and it'll make her feel very resentful. But in the meantime: they arrive in Ke-Waihu, after escaping one other disaster left behind. The mayor welcomes them, and presents them with family lodgings, and sets the condition of joining the village by accepting its traditions.
This is where it gets unpleasant. They are told to strip (at this point, what is shame anymore?) She gets the same welcome in Ke-Waihu as she did in the underbelly of Taravast: an ice-cold bath, and her belongings taken away. There is a moment of panic, as a villager holds their hand out for her belongings, the want strapped to her arm and the bag at her hip that fits all she's gathered over her time here.
She can't let them go. She won't be left powerless again. No - no.
The plea out loud is:]
They are a family heirloom. Please - I need them back. All I've got left of dear old...uhm, mother. [The irony of her begging so ardently for the wand of Bellatrix Lestrange. Well - hers, now. After all this time, definitely hers. The lie that spills from her lips so quickly; maybe she's an old hand at pretending to be someone else, at this point. Sister Hermione, from Taravast.
(Still, she makes a note to herself to improve her wandless magic - and fast. That moment of panic was terrible.)
In the silent pause after her plea, she adds:] I will do anything to keep them.
[There is the cold bath, and new clothes, and a flask of thick, bitter brew that isn't poison, but might as well have been. There is also, at the end of that, a villager smiling knowingly as they hand her back her wand and bag and usher her off to join the community. She'll regret the slip-up - later.]
[But to whoever she runs into after the mess, before the curse settles in, she'll have some outraged muttering for them:]
I don't suppose hot water was too much to ask for. And was it necessary to not tell us they'd give us our belongings back?
2. WILDCARD
[She can be available for chasing down bandits, and is handy in a fight. Also in a flight. For newcomers, please feel free to assume that if you're rescued by Hermione she will 100% give you tea.]
curses for one, curses for all, curses for everybody and their cow (open to anyone)
