Some nations welcome those that can channel, some fear them, others revile them. There are places I go where I keep that I can channel quieter, though in our world the general idea isn't secret.

( because whilst moiraine was openly a channeller, she was aes sedai, she didn't want to attract whitecloak attention either. but some refused to accept they even could channel, purposely tried not to. because of the stigma from the past )
