Calla | Original Character | Tourist

i. imprisoned
[ How does a being that has never set foot outside a casino react to being plopped into a cage in a spooky wizard’s tower suspended over a horde of undead?

As it turns out, not very well. Calla has little enough context to make sense of where he is or what’s happening to him, but he knows enough to decide that he absolutely does not like it at all. The swinging of the cage, the moaning of the creatures below, the nonsense images of raining fire that flit through his mind—and that’s not even the worst of it.

The worst is the constant presence of people around him and the random, inexplicable urge he gets to attack them.

Calla has never attacked anyone. In fact, before he came here, he had never even fathomed violence as an option. He doesn’t even know if the people around him are humans or not, but either way, his desire to harm them is unacceptable—that is not the kind of Sim-Res he was programmed for.

After nearly three days of this ordeal, most of which Calla spends curled up with his eyes closed, it becomes too much. Face blank, he stands, walks to the edge of the cage—and attempts to stick an arm through. And then a leg. He can’t get either limb entirely past the narrow gap between the bars, but it does spark some interest from the undead below, some of which come perilously close to grabbing him.

To anyone else in the cage, it certainly does look like a young man with a glowing face tattoo and silk vest is attempting to feed himself to the horde. There’s also the matter of the sound—a fast-tempo tick-tick-tick, as if he’s swallowed a metronome—though, the observant may have noticed it long before he attempted this little stunt.]

ii. (attempted) escape

[ That rapid ticking sound that follows Calla like a curse? It quickly becomes a problem during the group’s escape attempt.

In the mad dash from the guards, Calla, just as inexperienced in escaping such a place as being inside one, will follow the first person he sees who looks like they have any firm idea of where they’re going. And, of course, that metronome tick will follow fast on his heels.

Good luck to anyone attempting to hide from the guards with such a traveling companion. Calla’s only response to any glances thrown his way is a deeply apologetic look and a hand clamped over his own mouth—demonstrating quite clearly that this does absolutely nothing to stifle the sound.]
